Poker at The Outback on Wednesday nights is brought to you by the New Zealand Series of Poker. Here at The Outback we play one of the fastest growing games in the world - No Limit Texas Hold'em Poker. Texas Hold'em consists of the player creating the best five card hand possible by using the two 'hole cards' dealt to them and the five community cards or 'the board'.

The New Zealand Series of Poker (NZSOP) is the best way to play texas hold'em poker in a social, fun and competitive environment. The best thing is - it's completely free to play. At no point will we ask you for money to play.

The Rankings
The NZSOP Rankings are what make NZSOP so great and unique to play. We have come up with a very comprehensive formula, which calculates every player’s ranking compared to every other player - every time you play! For the first time ever you will truly be able to see who is the no.1 player in a fair way. Your ranking is based on an average of your previous 15 weeks performance with a ranking bonus for winning, so consistent results with the odd win is the key to a good ranking.

Tournament Structure
No doubt you want to know how the tournaments work and more importantly how you win cash! At every Outback poker night there is over $400 in cash and bar tabs up for grabs. First place wins $150 cash, 2nd wins $50 cash + $50 bar tab, and 3rd - 10th win bar tabs as well! On top of that we also give away free jug vouchers and there’s a $20 bar tab for you if you manage to take out last week’s winner.  
The NZSOP tournament structure is a ten week tournament followed by a final where you'll play for a minimum of $5000 cash. You can qualify for the $5000 final by finishing in the top ten at The Outback at the end of the ten week tournament.
However, this is not the only way you can win cash. Every five weeks NZSOP will hold special invite only tournaments for a selection of top ranked players.
